About
One person, two jobs, both about making cloud spend make sense.
I'm Hermann Lotter, a cloud architect based in Cape Town, South Africa. I've spent 15 years working in AWS, the last stretch of it owning the bill as well as the architecture. By day I lead technology operations at a SaaS company, which means the advice I give is tested on a real production estate every month, not assembled from blog posts.
Easy Entropy is the company I run on the side. It does two things. The first is AWS FinOps consulting, short scoped engagements that start with a read-only review of your bill and end with your team owning the process. The longer writing on how that works lives at savings.easyentropy.com, including a documented case study where an e-commerce technology company was shown $175K per year in savings.
The second is software. Three products are live under the Easy Entropy name right now, Resubly for subscription management, Nymly for naming and branding, and MessageMirror for SMS backup on Android. Building and running these is why the consulting stays practical. I pay my own cloud bills too.
How I work is simple. Scope in writing before any money moves, read-only access before any changes, and the knowledge handed over so you do not need me afterwards. If a piece of work is not a fit, I say so and point you at someone better suited.
